Rabbis of St. Augustine
In 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., sent word to the convention of the Central Conference of American Rabbis meeting in Atlantic City that he wanted rabbis to come to St. Augustine, Florida, to participate in his protests of segregation there. Among the 16 rabbis who answered his call was Allen Secher, who had previously been arrested protesting segregation with Dr. King in Albany, Georgia. Rabbi Secher is one of the only survivors of the St. Augustine rabbis, and he will be sharing his memories with us.
Please join us as we learn about history and continue to find its relevance to today.
