Each year the Franklin Interfaith Council holds an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. This year, let’s gather for dinner and attend the service together.

We will enjoy dinner and good company (separate checks will be provided for your meal).

Afterwards, we can make our way over to the Franklin Federated Church for a 7:00 pm service.

This dinner gathering is open to all!

Please RSVP on or before November 13 so we know how many seats to reserve at the restaurant.

Gilly’s House in Wrentham is a residential opportunity for men who have struggled with addiction and want to continue their recovery.

Sisterhood members will be cooking dinner for the men of Gilly’s House!

We are accepting donations to help purchase the food we’ll be preparing.

Soup, Salad, & Soul Followup

At Temple Etz Chaim of Franklin’s Sisterhood event: Soup, Salad, & Soul in the Sukkah, Mary Diehl shared info about the Afghan family that has been settled in Franklin. Mary is part of the Franklin Neighborhood Support Team supporting the family.

Scholar 2022


For our Scholar-in-Residence, the Temple is glad to welcome back Dr. Rachel Korazim, an inspiring teacher who uses Israeli poetry as an insight into life in Israel. Her focus this year will be on the diversity of the Israeli experience, both its strengths and its challenges. Here is her schedule with us:

Friday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. – Erev Shabbat Service at FUSF
Dr. Korazim will speak on “Jews and Arabs.”

Saturday, November 5 at 10:00 a.m. – Torah Study at the Temple
Dr. Korazim will teach about Nathan Alterman’s “The Silver Platter,” a poem that has a central place in the experience of the State of Israel

Saturday, November 5 at 3:30 p.m.
A wine-and-cheese reception held at the home of Jayme Solomon-Zissu and Jonathan Zissu. Dr. Korazim will share a presentation on the Mizrachi Voice,
about the lives of Jews who migrated from mostly Arab countries.

Temple members: $10 per person or $18 per couple

Dr. Korazim will join us for a closing lunch at the Temple building where she will speak on Women’s Voice.

Poker

This is a great opportunity for congregants to get together and have some fun for all skill levels.  To be held at the home of Jon Zissu, the event will include a quick tutoring session for those with little experience and a review of our house rules. Winners will split the pot 50/50 with the Temple (or Rabbi’s Mitzvah Fund).

A separate E-Vite will be sent 10-14 days prior with more details.

Simchat Torah 2022

Join us at FUSF or online October 16 at 7:00 PM for Simchat Torah as we unfurl the Torah and read the last and first parshas. Consecration will also be held to celebrate our incoming religious school students.
