Hana Berman is our Director of Education. Hana comes to us with a broad range of experience most recently as a Judaic Studies Coordinator at the Kehillah Schechter Academy in Norwood, Massachusetts. Hana taught a wide range of ages, teaching Judaic studies to grades 3-7 as well as secular subjects including language arts, math and social studies to grades 3-5. Hana became an Israeli citizen after living in Israel for six years. During that time, she was one of the founding members of the community of Neve Shalom, whose purpose is to provide a forum for Arabs and Jews in Israel to meet each other in an exchange of ideas and values. She later spent three years studying in Yeshivot in Jerusalem. Hana returned to the United States where she completed a dual degree in Philosophy and Elementary Education at Rhode Island College. Hana spent thirteen years as a Resource Coordinator, teacher, and family educator at Temple Torah Yisrael in Cranston, Rhode Island, where she co-authored a Family Education Unit published by United Synagogue that provides families with a zoo experience within a Jewish context. Hana spent ten summers as an instructor in Hebrew language and sailing at Camp Yavneh in New Hampshire. In 2006, Hana finished her Master’s Degree in Jewish Education at Hebrew College. Hana has a lifelong love of learning and has incorporated her educational pursuits into the educational setting. She participated in seminars on Sephardic and Middle Eastern Jewry at Columbia University; and an intensive Hebrew language program for teachers at the Jewish Theological Seminary. Hana enjoys working with all grades and looks forward to meeting all of our students and their families.
